100 Watts On The Go!


A fine modification of our earlier tuned speaker with the addition of a 100 watt amplifier, green pilot light and power switch at bottom, external 12v battery box, and cabling.

Web Server Audio Amplifier Interface Board


D3 work in process on interface board to be installed inside web audio amplifier chassis: includes 6 gain controlled amps, 2 shift registers, 12 bit ADC, 10bit DAC, 3 volume/tone control ics, 44amp HEXFET and connector (on right) for PIC-WEB.

Substantial Clipping

Guitar Fuzz Circuit

A great sounding ToneBender MKII fuzz pedal circuit constructed with vintage Sanyo germanium transistors D3 harvested from a old reel-to-reel tape recorder circa 1960s. 80 Watt Audio Amplifier


David built a new 80 watt audio amplifier replacing the earlier circuit that we accidentally shorted out with loud and smoky results (see earlier post). Note the large heat sink on the left and the component board on an acrylic panel as this will be incorporated into a larger acrylic pyramid housing that we've constructed. We tested the circuit with an iPod source and successfully drove a test speaker array with Ozzy at a very high volume.

BANG!


Too much Ozzie....we were running fine at full volume until we decided to measure the supply current and managed to short something out....BANG!....spares are becoming a more important purchase consideration...

Tuned-Port Subwoofer


Our first effort building a tuned-port subwoofer by combining scavenged speakers and housing with a port tuned to 80 Hz. The speaker wires are seen coming out of the port (temporarily).

Another departure


A new design by David: the tower of large LED's will be controlled by an IC that responds proportionally to a voltage input. An Op Amp front end will match inputs, for example an iPod. The short tower on the left has volume (top), tone and power controls for a solid-state amp to be built.
